About Russell Thomas

Russell Thomas works out of Birdsong Studios, located on historic Elma Street in Okotoks, Alberta, Canada. Known for his use of colour in portraiture, Russell began his painting journey in 2014 at the age of 47. By the age of 50, he semi-retired from traditional employment to focus on art as a business and livelihood.
He loves using his painting passion to help charities and communities. In addition to donations of art, Russell has made dozens of live painting appearances throughout western Canada, raising tens of thousands of dollars for great causes. He is heavily involved in an international charity called Bracelets 4 Buildings, which builds homes for the poor in rural areas of southeast Asia. Russell also serves as President of the Okotoks Arts Council.
