When I take the dogs for their walks in the forest in High River, we often pass by a statue of George Emerson on our way home. It was created by sculptor Rich Roenisch about 20 years ago. The face of the statue seems to have different moods, depending on the weather and time of day. More often than not, the sun is lighting him up, making him look confident, optimistic and tough as nails. As an exercise, I wanted to explore a new colour palette using a black and white photo I took of the statue in the late afternoon.
