She was early for the flight and wandered the concourse, watching light skate across polished floors like tide on rock. At Gate 9B the world felt between places—sky-colored blues, weathered greys, the mustard stripe of a suitcase that had seen better maps. She took out her sketchbook and followed the angles: wing, shoreline, road. Lines crossed like decisions; paint caught like breath.

Back in the studio, those fragments returned as texture and tilt—scraped horizons, quick black slashes, a bright ochre path curving forward. 9B still hovered in the corner like a small permission slip. Not a destination, but a threshold—the exact moment you stop waiting and step into the next story.
