In the summer, this bend in the Highwood River in High River, Alberta is teeming with families, enjoying time on the sand bars and in the cool water. In winter, the bend has a very different feel: silent, still, serene.

$100 from the sale of this painting will be donated to the charity Bracelets For Buildings to help fund the construction of a house for a struggling family in rural Cambodia.
