Burmis Tree
16" x 24", acrylic on canvas (ORIGINAL)
The Burmis Tree stands preserved and protected at the east entrance to the Crowsnest Pass in southern Alberta. It died in the 1970s after a long life of 500 - 750 years. However, the community was to preserve its cultural significance and has propped it up and protected it ever since. It is one of the most photographed trees in Canada.
This was done as part of the artist's 52 Week Landscapes and Landmarks painting challenge in support of the charity Bracelets For Buildings. One hundred dollars from the purchase of this painting will be donated to help suppport a fundraising effort to build a house for an impoverished family in rural Cambodia.
