In addition to serving as High River’s first female Mayor (1974-1986), Lucille Dougherty was the Chief Librarian at the High River Library. She was one of three visionary Alberta women who founded the Marigold Library System, a not-for-profit formed by 42 member municipalities in Southern Alberta to provide cost-effective, quality services to the public libraries in their communities.

This painting was created for a public art exhibition at The Venue in High River.
