Folding Time

HOW IT CAME TO BE / DESCRIPTION:
With no intention in mind, the feeling of creating this first painting, “Folding Time”, was one of adventure, play and sensuality. I squirted big globs of each of the three paint colours on a textured and prepped canvas, picked up my favourite brush and just started moving the thick, creamy, wet paint around and around and over itself. In almost no time, the colours began to blend-together, creating new shades worthy of study, the brush leaving such beautifully patterned folds that I couldn’t tear my eyes or heart away. It wasn’t long before it became apparent that I needed to stop moving the paint around before everything turned into grey mud. To this day, when I look at this first painting, I can still feel the pure luxury of good quality thick smooth paint sliding with ease across that canvas.
Most of this painting is composed of curved diagonal strokes of black and blackish green-grey. As the strokes get shorter and smaller towards the centre of the piece, they lighten into a creamy white colour giving the illusion of coloured lines folding in on themselves. Some people have interpreted this piece as appearing like an animal’s half-closed eye - specifically a dragon - or an animal’s eye glowing at night.
PODCAST:
“Folding Time” was influenced by several podcasts namely:
#21: “Super Timelines”. Take-aways: “Fraction of the moment called now”, Interstellar – Point A to B (Folding Time), running multiple timelines at a time, multiple realities at the same time.
#6: “Going Beyond - Body, Environment, Time and Self (BETY)”. Bring body, environment, and time online, getting beyond the self, moving from 3rd to 5th dimension, build a new prism that resonates with preferred reality, feel new identity as if it has already occurred.

INTERPRETATION:
“Folding Time” is a painting that invites us to consider that we really can have any experience we wish and that the cycle of birth and rebirth and death has no bearing. It is a reminder that this current reality is not the only reality, that there are past lives, parallel lives, future lives all happening simultaneously.
Like the movie, “Interstellar”, this painting is one that connects to the quantum field and invites us to fold time and live from our preferred reality of Point B, “as if” what we wish for has already manifested. What is your “Point B”? What is your preferred reality and how are you folding time to help it manifest?
