After having spent the past 25 years in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Russell and Heather Thomas are excited to be in Okotoks, the new home of Birdsong Studio & Healing Centre. Our vision for Birdsong is to have an open studio where friends and artists can retreat, gather, share and collaborate on new ideas and techniques. It is a safe place where our innermost selves can be explored and expressed, inviting greater insight, growth and healing. We invite everyone to join us and experience the joy that comes with creation, connection and the opening of hearts and minds to what is possible.
Russell started painting (for real) when he began a marketing position with the Fort McMurray United Way in 2014 at the age of 47. In the proceeding years, Russell has created hundreds of paintings and shared his gift with tens of thousands more through social media and live painting performances.

Heather has always enjoyed art and creating beauty in life. Since relocating to Okotoks, she has jumped at the opportunity to make full use of the new Birdsong Studio. Although she dabbles with landscapes and the odd portrait, Heather’s passion lies in abstract art. She is working steadily on honing her craft and finding her true voice with acrylics and mixed media. Heather is an accomplished facilitator of health & healing and accepts clients for wellness mentoring and healing intensives.
